The light novels also inspired a 24-episode anime adaptation in 2013, as well as two seasons of OVAs in 2015 and between 2016-2017. The work was adapted into a manga by TATE, who began serialization of the manga in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in 2012 and completed it in 2017. The publisher published the final volume on August 7 in Japan. Mikumo and Manyako began publishing the light novels through Kadokawa Publishing's Dengeki Bunko imprint in 2011, with illustrations by Manyako. On the official site for the light novel series written by Gakuto Mikumo and illustrated by Manyako, Strike the Blood, it was announced that the work has surpassed 3.2 million cumulative circulating copies in its 22 published volumes.
